Tabitha's Legacy
Mission Statement
To prayerfully create blankets and other articles (Hugs) for less fortunate children and adults in our community. To pray over these hugs and for the recipients in order to show the love of God through both the work of our hands and the prayers from our hearts.
Tabitha's Legacy is made up of two groups of women committed to serving our community. You may be either a Hand, a Heart, or both. Neither is more important than the other for without one the other is not as effective. Ecclesiastes 4:12b
Origin of the Name: The name originates from the story of Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas) who was a woman of great service in her community. (Acts 9:36-43)
Seniors' Activities
Young At Heart
"Young at Heart" is a group of seniors meeting here at Hope Christian Church in the Fireside Room. We take responsibility for sending flowers for the church to people that are hospitalized or have lost loved ones. We meet on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. On the first Thursday of the month, we have a birthday cake and party. We always have a good time so we invite you to join us. In the summer, we only meet the first Thursday of the month to celebrate birthdays.
Men's Activities
Study Groups
In today's fast paced world, it can be difficult to keep in touch with each other and our Lord. Study Groups are one of the opportunities we provide to help us stay connected socially and spiritually. Each meeting is a time of prayer, Bible study, and fellowship. A chance to reflect, regroup, and refocus. Please feel free to join us!
Please check the church calendar for the different Bible Study groups.
Men's Retreat
Each year we hold an annual Men's Retreat.
Women's Activities
Study Groups
The Ladies Bible Study meets on Tuesday evening at 7:00 until about 8:30 pm at Barbara Carse's home, 555 Freeman Rd #22, Central Point. Phyllis McNew is the leader. Contact her at 541-941-9296 for further information. Note: They are in recess and will resume on Tuesday, September 7.
Women's Retreat
Each year we hold an annual Women's Retreat.
Tabitha's Hands: A group of women dedicated to prayerfully create blankets (Hugs.) At Hope it includes other items that will help keep people warm such as lap robes, baby caps, shawls, slippers, scarves, etc. These Hugs can be sewn, quilted, tied, knitted, woven or crocheted and can be completed at home.
Tabitha's Hearts: A group of women dedicated to pray regularly for Tabitha's Hands and attend scheduled prayer meeting where we will pray that the work of our Hands will bless the recipients, ultimately showing God's love and care.
Each blanket or other "Hug" receives a tag which says: "Each stitch represents a stitch of love, a stitch of God's love for you. We in Tabitha's Legacy at Hope Christian Church have prayed diligently during the creation of our gifts, that the recipient of our gift would come to know the blessing of the Lord's peace and the love of Jesus."
